If you are funded by an external donor or award, please ensure that you have contacted the Office of Financial Aid and Awards to ensure that your donor has made arrangements to pay your fees. We offer standardized or customized short-term postgraduate learning programs in a variety of legal disciplines. We require a minimum of 15 people per course. New and returning South African residents, holders of permanent residence permits in South Africa and refugee permit holders must make the first payment of R9340 into their fee account before enrolling in university.

In 2016, part-time students are charged R30,200 for four courses. Their second-year tuition will be slightly lower, as they will simply take another course and do their research. However, they are subject to the annual fee increase. Immigrant status at the time of registration determines the annual fee. If you receive permanent resident status during your academic year, your citizenship information will need to be updated at the Office of International Students. However, your fees paid at the beginning of the year will not be refunded or changed. The new fees do not apply until the following school year. Students from Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries pay annual local tuition fees, international application fees (IRFs) and related costs.

SADC member countries are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. As an indication of costs, we provide the fees charged in 2017. Fees were increased by 8% in 2016, but did not increase from 2015 to 2016. Fee increases for 2018 will not be announced until November 2017. International students who are officially recognized as asylum seekers pay: If you want to practice as a bar, you will need at least an LLB degree. Subject to evaluation criteria established by the Faculty of Law and availability of seats. Applicants who have obtained a bachelor`s degree at an institution other than Wits must apply to the three-year LLB programme (selected academic year 2).

Fees vary slightly between different MUS regions and depending on the choice of elective courses. In 2022, the average tuition fee for full-time studies at MUS ranged from R75,170 to R75,730. Students who are not South African citizens or permanent residents may have to pay an additional amount – see the university fee book. At this time, we do not accept walk-in visits to the expense office. All requests can be sent by e-mail to the following address: Wits Plus applicants, applications can only be made online. We will contact you if we need additional documents. Students also have the option to defer payment of the first fee by logging into the Self-Service Portal and clicking on the “First Fee Payment” tab. Once the necessary information has been completed, the payment of the first fees will be cancelled and the student will be able to proceed with the online registration.

Please note that 100% of total tuition fees must be paid no later than the last business day of March. Incomplete fields or incorrect documents will cause delays in processing your application.
